GOODBYE LIVEJOURNAL
That's right ladies and gentleman, and good friends. I'm outta here. Blowing this joint. Abandoning ship. Bailing. Booking out of here.

Most of you have noticed that I have not been posting recently... and that's true. I haven't. But that's primarily because I have been concentrating heavily on a new project... conceptualizing it, implementing it, putting it together and tweaking it.

Whats this new project you might ask?

My own website. With my own blog.

Why? Because I have so much more control, so much more room to be creative, and so much more flexibility with my own site that LJ just doesn't give me.

So here's where I ask a favour of all my friends. If you can remember when I posted more regularly, if you can remember having a chuckle over something I posted, if you can remember finding any of my stuff interesting... then I ask you to come check out The Scott English Show. And please bookmark and come visit me regularly. I'll be updating content regularly. Seriously. Now that I have something that is MINE, I am much more interested in expressing myself and blabbing on. So if you want to come and see what I am rambling about, make sure you stop by.

Note: As it always has been, feedback is a sort of fuel that pushes me onward, lets me know your thoughts, and tells me what you like and don't. It also lets me get to know a bit more about you. So please comment, if you feel like you have something to say. I know the fact that you need to go to another site just to read ME is going to lose some of your readership. And that makes me a little sad, but this is a new direction I need to go in. So please stop by and comment like madmen.

Mostly the site currently contains what *I* consider my more memorable posts ported over from LJ. Hey browse anyway, you might discover some stuff you missed before now. And new content is imminent.

Does this mean you should just de-friend me on LJ now? I hope not. I'll still be here. I'll still occasionally post the day to day stuff that doesn't have a place on The Scott English Show. And I'll still be back here regularly reading you all and commenting when I have something witty to add ;) So, I hope I don't lose any of you off LJ as a result. You are on my friends list because I enjoy reading you. That wont change.

Wish me luck, and come stop by: The Scott English Show

Good luck. When I started my own website, suddenly the extra click it took for people to get to my stories and thoughts was a little too much effort, and my readership dropped dramatically because I wasn't on people's friends' lists anymore.

I will check your site out, though!

Yeah... I imagine that I will have a huge drop off. I plan on linking from my LJ to my website much in the same manner as you do (and btw, it was your site that turned me on to WordPress). *fingers crossed* that a few die hards/crazy people, will follow me over.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look! :)

Interesting development that I had not considered before that I thought might be useful to you with your site... One of my friends created a syndication of my wordpress blog on LJ, so that everything I post on my blog appears in the syndicated user's blog... see The Scott English Show for an example. You might be able to recover some of those lost readers :D

I think I have that, but I'll check to make sure.

Unless you're not subscribed to it yourself, it doesn't look like you do. I don't know how familiar you are with how setting up LJ feeds (I dont understand them myself), I haven't really looked into it - a friend set mine up, but maybe your web guy can do it for you? That way you can point all your LJ readers to it, and have them still reading you, even if they aren't visiting your site.

BTW: Can I have a password to access your novel in the works? I noticed your post recently about it, and this seems as good a place as any to ask for it. I have very much enjoyed your writing to date and to get an early look in on a novel, especially one that pulls from such a creative mind, would be a treat. If you need to email it to me its my LJ username @ yahoo.com.

*smiles*

FYI: Just for the heck of it, I set up your friend's feed, too. It is rather easy; I went to your Wordpress site, and looked at the raw source. I looked for the term "RSS" in the code, and copied the text (http://[YOUR SITE NAME HERE]/rss). Then, I went to the feed page: http://www.livejournal.com/syn, and pasted the copied text into the form. Then, I generated the feed, and, finally gave it a name. For your friend, I called her feed [info]spasms_feed.

Enjoy!

I set up a feed for you; see the details at http://zephirknight.livejournal.com/96663.html?thread=587671#t587671. Enjoy!

Eeek!

Ok, I've taken away the need for new users to register before the can post comments. I have to admit that was a little confusing. I'll see how it goes - spam wise. You should now be able to comment on anything. Let me know if you have any more problems.

Thanks for the feedback!

Okey-dokey. You should be okay, spam-wise -- I have a wordpress site, too (but I can't remember the password, since it's saved), and I don't get a lot of spam.

By the way: having your site syndicated should prevent you from having readership drop off, provided everyone subscribes!

Cool, that was going to be my next question; I'll just add the syndication to my FL, that way I won't miss any of the Scott English yumminess. :)
